Rays of sunshine pierce through the window onto my warm bed, everyone is asleep and although the house is completely silent – the street outside seems somewhat bustling. I turn to my husband who is sound asleep next to me and as my mind awakes I gasp…
“We forgot to set the alarm…”
This is how this, very important Monday started for me. I opened my eyes at around 6:09 am this morning… which may seem early for some, but for someone who is usually ready to leave home around 6:30, this is the kinda late that makes you wanna go back to bed and wait for Tuesday.
Today was important because I had a presentation – big meet and greet with important “who ha’s” at work. Late was not an option.
The rest of the day is pretty much a blur of – washing, dressing in the most comfortable clothes I could find (also the first clothes I could grab), brushing my daughters hair – I have not included my own as this was not part of my plan for today. Dam da da dam – priorities people.. prep for the presentation, a whiteboard collapsing on me, prep for the presentation, change the presentation, sit in on other presentations, present, breathe – and then realise you are running almost an hour late. Time was not my friend today.
All in all today has taught me the following things:
- I need to invest in an alarm clock (something that runs completely on its own – everyday without a reminder and that doesn’t need me to charge it)
- I need a wrist watch – I found myself looking at my arm as though one would magically appear there through the course of today if i wished it enough – bleh!
- Rescue tablets – the ones in my bag – they are not for show i.e. I need to drink them OFTEN..
- I stress waaaaay too much – I mean when I got home my body was like “What? I’m home? Everything is over? Ok – now you will hurt all over for what you put me through today. Jaaaaaaaaaa….”
- Write your to-do-list on your stomach so that you don’t forget it at home
- …if you do the above try not to wash that area on your tummy before work
- Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. I didn’t get nearly enough of that today – there was no time. But for next time…caffeinated gum or something. *justanothercrazygirl makes a note to check that out*
- Brush your hair more often
And of course – its over and as expected NOW I don’t think it was that bad – I mean it could have been worst. The boss lady commended me on a rocking presentation and I got to come home to a family who thinks even when my hair isn’t brushed that I’m thee best thing since chocolate ice-cream. I know right? Pretty darn cool!
Take that purple Monday!
