Investing your time with your children intentionally – 936 Pennies

Are you one of those people who get to work on a Monday wishing for Friday? Waiting for 4pm? That next holiday or weekend away? All the while wishing the time in between these “events” in our lives away? Me too. Sadly! A few weeks ago though my perspective on time was shifted when an amazing new release by Christian Art Distributors landed on my desk -“936 pennies”. From the day your child is born until they turn 18, you have 936 weeks.

Reader’s Choice – Top 5 posts on In the Meantime!

I can barely believe it, but I have been blogging for over a year. My blog birthday passed in February completely unnoticed by anyone, including me! When I started out this was really a space for me to express my thoughts, struggles and challenges with life. Life as a working full time wife, mother and person, it has since grown to a place for like-minded mom to find safety in the words “me too”. Mom on a mission, a successful VBAC story!

Vaginal birth after c-section or VBAC, is a topic that has been discussed at great length. It moved me. She has graciously allowed me to share her story to encourage or motivate any mom who might be considering this too.

How not to deal with a distracted child…

This last week in our home has been tough. School started, routines aren’t exactly set in stone and we are still finding our feet. Can someone please inform the teachers that? My child has been getting REAL homework. By this I mean we are working every single day till 8pm. I have discovered after much screaming, hair pulling, a few sobs, that my child is distracted. Aren’t we all? I hear you, but easily, very easily distracted is more what I mean. Struggling to focus actually. Sadly to top it all off – I’ve been making it worse.

The crappy side of motherhood – Saying no!

This last week Emilie was invited to a sleepover. Very spur of the moment. Literally Wednesday she came home from school and said “Mom, my friend “so and so” is having a sleepover on Friday..” she lets her voice trail off while she is figuring out exactly how to ask me questions she already knows the answer to. I was very calm as the easy answer to this would be “no”.
