You may have noticed that my recent theme has been a lot about pregnancy, and my own feelings about being a mother. It may be because some of us are so blessed (I’m talking about myself. I am blessed.) Blessed that although my period of pregnancy as a young girl entering motherhood was difficult, I was fully supported. Supported by friends and family, on the day I gave birth I was surrounded by loved ones. Not every mother is this blessed. With this in mind the awesome team at Embrace has started a wonderful campaign – Mother’s Day Connect.
Mother’s Day Connect – It is more than a day. It’s a declaration!
The Mother’s Day Connect team is a tribe of women, going into hospitals to make a new mom’s day. Support, encouragement and acknowledgment is what we all need after childbirth. Not only is it the miracle of bringing another life into the world, but a mother is born. This is our aim – we want to reach far and wide to make sure that more mother’s have this support on Mother’s Day. It’s a day to celebrate our motherhood, by giving back to those joining us on this journey. It’s an hour of your Mother’s Day spent investing in a new mother’s journey.
I’ve finally joined up and will be joining a team visiting Dora Nginza Hospital in New Brighton PE.
Along with the team we will visit two beds per person, and connect with a new mom. Share our experience, give her some encouragement, love and let her know that she is not alone on this journey. That any feelings she may have are okay, valid and most importantly that she is capable.
What can YOU do to help?
We still need volunteers to assist us on Sunday, if you would like to join us – please sign up here: Mother’s Day Connection Sign Up! There are teams gearing up all over South Africa, from all areas so please have a look and sign up, we would love to have you join us.
We also need donations, we would like to gift these moms with something small on Mother’s Day, suggestions for what we would like to donate are outlined in the info graphic below.
If you would like to be a part of this amazing initiative whether it be via donations and / or are willing to give up an hour of your Mother’s Day to connect, please get in touch.
You can mail me at email@example.com, or inbox me on Facebook. As mothers there is no one who knows better, how much love and support you need on this new journey. I urge you to stand up with me and make a difference.
