Can you picture a stream of Superheros along side the Beachfront and in our beloved Happy Valley? What an amazing sight! If you can’t picture it then you definitely need to keep reading. St Francis Hospice is hosting a SuperHero Fun Run or Walk for those of us whose running skills are zero (like me). It will be held on the 3rd of March starting in Happy Valley at 07:00, down Marine Drive and ending in Happy Valley again. (3kms not so bad at all!) Excited? Me too!
Not only will it be a Family Fun Run, but they are also hosting a Carnival. In secure surroundings, there will be fun activities for the entire family. Including performing artists, food stalls, jumping castles, face painting and lawn games. With this event, Hospice aims to raise funding via entrance fees, sponsorship’s and general donations.
Hospice currently provides a Home-Based Care monthly to 200 terminally ill Cancer, HIV/AIDS and Motor Neurone Disease patients in the NMBM and Kouga region at no cost to the patient. They believe that no one should be in pain or alone in their last days. The team not only provide comfort but facilitate guardianship, fostering, grants and schooling for affected vulnerable children. Are they amazing or what? This is a really awesome way to have fun, spend time with your family and support an amazing initiative all at the same time. Super Hero Moms stand up!
Entry for the Fun Run, including access to the carnival is R60 per adult, R30 per child and R150 for a family of 4. Corporate packages are available from R900. They include roadside branding and entry for 5 staff members who will each receive branded capes and masks. Carnival entry is R20 for adults and R10 per child.
Tickets are available at TicketPro, Jets, Edgars, Postnet, Something Good, Brian Bands, Virgin Active Humewood and at St Francis Hospice. The event will be entered on Recordsetter.com to officially own the record for the Largest Superhero Fun-Run. All participants are encouraged to wear a superhero outfit or item.
